Always popular and highly anticipated are the silent and live auctions that are held in conjunction with the golf tournament dinner.

The silent auction is set-up adjacent to the dinning area where attendees can view a unique and varied display of valuable items that are up for bid. Bidders can track the bidding by reviewing the sign-up sheets next to the item being offered. At a designated and published time, bid sheets will be pulled, followed by an announcement of the highest bid winners for each item. Examples of items that were offered in the 2011 silent auction include:

  • Autographed Football, Baseballs and Jerseys
  • Diamondback and Suns Tickets
  • Dinner and Show
  • Prescription glasses
  • Drawings and Paintings
  • Assorted Gift Baskets

Luxury auction items are where things really get exciting.

2011 luxury auction items included:

  1. Seven night Caribbean Cruise with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

  2. Four night stay at the Plaza Hotel in New York with continental breakfast. There are other properties within the system that will be available if whoever gets this prize does not want the Plaza. The value of this prize is almost $3,000.00.

  3. Advanced Lasik surgery (both eyes) – examination at no charge

  4. 1-1/2 Hour Airline Jet Simulator Session

Experience the Thrill of Flight in a real Airline Jet Simulator

30 minute Ground Briefing and 1 hour in a Full flight Simulator with a Fully qualified Airline Jet Captain.
Imagine, the Air Traffic Controller states “Air Shuttle One, Cleared for Takeoff Runway 8, maintain runway heading and climb to 3,000ft.

You pull into position and carefully line the aircraft in the center of the runway and slowly advance the throttles and state to the First Officer, “Set Max Thrust”.  You start to roll and the aircraft accelerates.  You actually feel the bumps in the runway and hear thuds from the grooves in the runway as they get faster.  The first officer states “V1, V2, VR Rotate”.  You ease back on the control yoke and the nose rises several degrees and you place the Horizon Bar into the Flight Director pink bars and you are already at 50 feet and climbing at 2000ft per minute.  You hear positive rate and state to the First Officer, “Gear Up”.  You are now flying.

This describes the takeoff in a Full Flight Canadian Regional Jet Simulator (CRJ200 or CRJ900).  You will get 1 full hour in this $15,000,000 piece of state of the art airline training equipment.  This is the same Simulator Mesa Airlines uses to train our pilots.  When our pilots finish Captain Training in this simulator they receive a Type Rating and are now qualified to get into the real aircraft to fly passengers. The CRJ Simulator is fully FAA certified and equipped with real aircraft cockpit controls and instruments.  We can simulate clear blue skies or the worst of weather to include, thunderstorms, lightning, clouds and snow.  It feels and looks exactly like the real thing.  You will also be instructed by a fully qualified Training Captain.  Prior to flight you will receive a 30 minute briefing on what to expect and an overview of the equipment you will be using.  He or she will go over the controls and what you will see when you get into the simulator.

This is a rare opportunity and one you will remember and relive often.  Good Luck.
